The story of the name

In the Tuamotu islands, miki miki is the shrub that grows at the ocean’s edge. It stands on the front line, roots in the salt. Its wood is hard enough to carve into spears and fishhooks.

A name from the shoreline, for jewelry from the shoreline.

Pemphis acidula — 'ā'ie in Tahitian, miki miki in Paumotu.

The brand

Born by the water

Since 2023, Miki Miki Islands has brought together shell jewelry and a few outfits, sewn by its founder.

Every piece is put together by a trained jeweler who learned the craft in Tahiti, then worked in jewelry shops and on a pearl farm.

And a bond with the sea that runs deep: a family of fishermen, a childhood paddling outrigger canoes on the Bora Bora lagoon.

“The moment I’m by the sea, I feel good. The sea is vital to me.”

Callie Moasen, founder, speaking to Femmes de Polynésie, 2025 (translated)
